I cook  So I may taste  My effort  Gustatory satisfaction  Tantamount  To the labour  Of creation  It is clear  When one cooks  Whether the work  Was worth it In the end

I sought An  Onslaught Of you Torrential rains Of memories Every smile Every conversation  That went on A bit too long Everything  You've ever told me Here Right now Every thought That finally had a  Resting place On our ears Every word That suddenly breathed poetry Bring them to me With your Arms overflowing Like riverbeds Burdened with Spring showers Bring me the truth The deeper and darker Waters  You fear so much  Bring me the embarrassment  That etches the corners  Of your mouth With shame Bring me the loyalty That you dreamer of When you imaged Happily ever aft

I started planning my escape  Today From this life  I've carly crafted And dutifully served Piece by piece  I duplicated everything  I would need  To run away All the most  Necessary accoutrements  For a journey into the unknown I leave them in a bag By my bedside Waiting For the moment I just Break free But that's a story For tomorrow Always  Tomorrow If anyone asks I'm (vacation) Ready

Do we remember  Anything more Than the ending Was there a  Masterpiece Before the fall Or were we always Just children  Playing in the rubble Of our misspent youth Pretending Our crumbling homes Were mansions In the sky

Lunar Life Cycles Like the moon He pulled blanket tides Over his shoulders Receding water Receding time Receding mind Into dreams He waxed and waned He pulled shadows over His light Till he could not Be seen My new moon sky Was dark Was lonely Without his glow To guide me home But like the moon He is never Forever gone Just orbiting Circling into And out of Sight Light And life Again
